I missed Alvin Ailey Dance Theater perform in Chicago the past two years...but this year I won't be deterred.
The legendary modern dance company leaves the Big Apple to make its Chicago appearance this week, running from Wednesday, April 11 to Sunday, April 15 at the Auditorium Theatre.
A sneak peek at the lineup:
Arden Court: Dubbed a "romantic masterpiece," this is dance genius Paul Taylor's first ever piece with Ailey.
Minus 16: Eclective and inventive, this piece brings a wide range of musical variety and also erases the line between the audience and the stage--be ready for some audience participation!
Revelations: The company's signature repertoire piece (from 1960) is a tribute to African American heritage.
Home: Hip hop choreographer takes Ailey to a new level with this Chicago premiere. Set to gospel house music and inspired by people living with/affected by HIV.
