Memorial Day Weekend & Parade in Chicago 2013

Saturday, May 25th, 2013 started out very exciting for me. At 6:00 a.m., I arrived at the ABC7Chicago studio on State Street to be interviewed Live with Anchor Stacey Baca. The reason for the interview was to promote my book, Joining Forces with Glory, and to talk about what it was like to be an "Army Brat," and on this Memorial Day, to talk about what the military kids and families deal with; the differences and similarities between civilian and military kids and families. The interview was at 6:50 a.m. and went for 4 minutes. I felt good about it. You can see the interview on www.ABC7Chicago.com , then click See It On TV, and then search for the May 25th "Joining Forces with Glory" segment.

I love parades and came back to State Street at noon to watch the two hour Memorial Day Parade. It was fantastic to see the men and women who serve in the military services marching, to hear the patriotic music, to see the red, white and blue floats as on-lookers clapped to pay their respect while waving their American flags,  and to honor those brave people who gave the ultimate to our country so that we could be free and safe.
