On April 28th, The Something New, Something Blue & Something for Him Too show & wedding convention premiered at the Crystal Palace Banquets at Mount Prospect. Honestly, I was expecting the same old wedding fashion show that looks like high school students decided to create one along with a bunch of very determined and scary wedding vendors; what I got was totally different. The show was professionally done with AMAZING wedding gowns from places such as Real Size Brides and ZoyaModa Atelier along with vendors who were not pushy and honestly very helpful. The fashion show opened with Miss Heart Of Illinois 2013, Marissa Buchheit singing Ave Maria (wow, I feel in love) and hosted by Sara Soto and Jeff Conway from NBC news. The wedding gowns, even for those that are not in the wedding mindset suddenly craved a wedding, due to them being so spectacular. Along with the show was live music from The David Rothstein Band (which you can book for your wedding-they were awesome).
So yes this was one of the few shows done in the burbs (happy for me I live in the burbs), so accessibility and parking was great for visitors. Guests all got a mimosa as they entered the convention (yum) and the vendors were happy to give you samples (especially food ones)!! Best part is that part of the proceeds from this event went towards Brides Against Breast Cancer's Pink Envelope Project and the White Knot, supporting marriage equality. Great job by SJS Productions (owned by the talented Sara Soto). So everyone, make sure to keep an eye out for more production by SJS because they are fun, professional and you get to see a lot of Chicago talent. Now, you all may excuse me while I contact some of these vendors that I met!!!
