Welcome to Escape from Chicago

As much as I love Chicago, I like to escape it. Whether it's the lure of fun in the sun during winter or just an adventure, my poor impulse control gets me onto planes heading to all corners of the world.

I'm Nick. I'm a 30 something from the 312, I fly over 100,000 miles a year and try to visit 10 countries a year. In that time, I've learned a lot, and some of it's actually been useful. I've hiked up Kilimanjaro, fell down the Great Wall of China, driven a dog sled in Siberia, eaten camel in Kenya, attempted to surf in Australia and gotten food poisoning in Egypt. And most importantly, gotten lost in Bucktown and scared by hipsters.

So what will I blog about? Everything you might need to know in escaping our fair city, by bus, train and plane. Fare sales to far flung places, gadget reviews, how to save some money on the road and how to make the most out of trips. When you spend your hard-earned money on trips, you find out what works and what doesn't. And I want to get your input: What travel questions do you have for me? What can I help you with? Blogs are more fun when they're interactive.
