West Loop Run Group [plus the Chicago Primal Gym Giveaway winner]

photo 1When I moved from Forest Park to the West Loop I was sad that I wouldn't be within easy running distance of my running club's meeting point. I looked for a new club in the West Loop but didn't find anything. So when Swirlgear told me that the new West Loop triathlon store Live Grit was starting a West Loop Run Group on Tuesday nights I knew I was IN!

Amazingly enough, not only have I been joining the West Loop Run Group on Tuesday nights, I'm one of the group leaders and I get to help pick the route! We run about three miles through the West Loop and UIC and then meet back on Monroe for 10 or 15 minutes of stretching lead by Bare Feet Power Yoga.

This is not a hardcore running group. We have lots of beginners, people pushing running strollers, and we take it at a nice conversational pace. The goal is to get people to come on out and join us and then, if they want, they can join the 5K training group this summer. It's all very laid back, though, because that's one of the goals of Live Grit. They want to be the laid back triathlon shop. With Wednesday night chats and informational sessions, beer and wine in the evenings, and a wall full of goals their employees and customers want to accomplish, it feels more like a place to hang out than just a place to go buy gear. live_grit_chicago
