5 5Ks in 5 Days: My Own Personal Running Challenge

5 5Ks in 5 Days: My Own Personal Running Challenge

It all started with the Strike Out ALS 5K.  I added that to my race calendar as a definite.  But I also keep a separate calendar with potential races on it. And the same week as the Strike Out ALS 5K? I had the Burgers & Beer 5K and the Esprit de She races listed as possibles.  The crazy thing? They are all on different nights.

Which meant my calendar looked like this:

Hmm, I thought. If only I could find an evening race on Wednesday and Friday  I could have a full week of evening races!

Evening races are my favorite (my marathon PR is from the 2011 Las Vegas Marathon which started at 4:30 PM) so why not take advantage of this summer-only Chicago phenomenon?

Unfortunately, Chicago amazingly didn't have any evening races scheduled for Wednesday or Friday! What's a girl to do? Well, I asked my Chicago Running Blogger buddies who found me the Friendship 5K in Indiana on Wednesday and the Wheels and Heels 5K in Milwaukee on Friday.

Which means now my race calendar looks like this:

Don't worry, I won't be "racing" all of these. Especially not with the heat wave that hit Chicago this week. But I will be running all of them which, for me, will be a challenge. I don't think I've ever run 5 days in a row! And even though they are "just" 5Ks, don't let that fool you! I suspect I will have some fun stories for you next week.
