On Thursday, February 27, 2014, the Signature Room will host its first Vegan Wine Dinner. This wine event will showcase vegan winemakers from Grant Family Wines in California.
This exquisite event will display the essence of fine dining and plant-based dishes that will appeal to the taste buds of anyone seeking to enjoy healthy fine dining.
Longtime vegan and winemaker, Jon Grant, will present his wines and provide tasting notes at this five-course gourmet dining event. Jon's passion for delicious vegan dining experiences coupled with wonderful wine pairings come together in a must attend vegan wine & dine event. During the reception, Black Bean Hummus with Tomato Raisin Chutney and Plaintain Chips; Mushroom Pierogi with Spinach Sauce and an Assortment of Flatbreads will be paired with the 2010 Couloir "Roma's" Pinot Noir will be start this sophisticated dining experience. The reception will be followed by the main event: a five-course gourmet plant-based dining menu paired with the Grant Family Wines based in Santa Rosa, California.
This wine event and gourmet dinner gathering will be hosted by the Signature Room at the 95th partially due the efforts of Angela Aspito. Angela is the Operations and Wine Director at the Signature Room at the 95th. Angela has a passion for supporting American winemakers and thoughtfully planned this event to ensure that the wine pairings complimented this multi-course gourmet event. Angela made sure that the vegan dishes for featured at this event complimented the Signature Room's locally sourced menus which are updated seasonally. "The five-course gourmet dinner begins with a first course appetizer of Root Vegetable and Jalapeno Ravioli with Parsnip Puree and Potato Curls paired with 2012 Straight Line Sauvignon Blanc. Second course is a Tomato Consommé with Chive Dumpling paired with 2011 Straight Line Syrah, and the third course features a Squash, Zucchini and Carrot “Pappardelle Pasta” with Porcini Ragout paired with a 2010 Couloir "Oppenlander" Pinot Noir. The evening’s fourth course entrée is Pan Seared Tofu “Scallops” with Beet Quinoa and Edaname Coulis served with a 2011 Couloir "Monument Tree" Pinot Noir. And the evening is topped off with a Malibu Coconut Phyllo Cup with Assorted Fruit, Vanilla Ice Cream and a Cherry Sauce served with freshly brewed Lavazza coffee and assorted teas."
