The Medicinal Martini

I have long enjoyed the benefits of tart cherry juice and I have long enjoyed the benefits of a good martini. So why not combine the two together? Montmorency Tart cherry juice is great for aching joints, supports the cardiovascular system and is free of common allergens. Tart cherries are high in fiber, potassium, beta carotene, and antioxidants. Cherries also contain calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamins A, C, B6, E and folic acid. Tart cherries also contain high amounts of melatonin. Melatonin helps synchronize circadian rhythms and promote a good night's sleep. Melatonin is also known to help combat the signs of aging.

I recommend having this drink as a nightcap. If you drink this in the early evening you will feel very sleepy!

The Medicinal Martini

  • 2.5 oz of your favorite vodka (Chopin Vodka is a gluten free brand by the way)
  • 1/4 oz. Dry Vermouth
  • 2 TBS of Fruit Advantage Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate. (I have tried many brands and I really like Fruit Advantage but you can find tart cherry juice at many health food stores)

Serve straight up in a pre-chilled cocktail glass.

Pour liquids into a mix cup with ice, stir and strain into your glass.
