Time for a Little Break

Last week I thought my MacBook died. It would turn on then turn itself off, not a good sign I’m told. There was no warning or anything. It hit me that life is like nature and sometimes things have to be destroyed in order to be re-built again. I will tell you what, I sure don’t like... Read more »

Body Image in Movies

The upcoming Oscars got me thinking about body image in movies. The following movies came to mind. If I forgot one let me know!

People are Beautiful No. 3: Advanced Style

She is totally working it with her sunglasses, white bob and mixed prints.
One of my Facebook friends shared a blog I had never heard of before called Advanced Style which celebrates the style of some seriously stylish seniors. I also like exchanging the word “old” with “advanced”. As we gain years we truly are advanced in our life experience and personal style.

Bandages for Every Color

Bandages for Every Color
I came across something that should have been invented years ago: bandages with an array of “flesh” colors. As a white woman I have never put on a bandage that wasn’t designed for my skin tone. For people of color regular bandaids may incur more of a sting than the wound underneath. Ebon-aide bandages are... Read more »

The New February Profile Photo

In honor of Black History month I am changing the Eclectic Body’s profile photo to this photo of “flesh” colored crayons. I’m old enough to remember crayon colors like “Flesh” and “Indian red”. This photo is a good reminder that flesh comes in beautiful shades of beige, pink, yellow, tan, brown, ebony, alabaster and many... Read more »
