Every Cyclist Should Set Aside May 16th for The Ride Of Silence

What are you doing two weeks from today on Wednesday, May 16th, at 7pm?

I will be joining thousands of cyclists worldwide as we take part in the 10th Annual Ride of Silence.  We would be honored to have you ride with us.

There is no registration.  The ride is free.  Just show up at 6:30pm at one of over 200 locations nationwide and line up to ride.  Dress appropriately for a 10 - 12 mile ride at a comfortable pace.

Consider the Ride of Silence our Memorial Day.  It is our time to silently honor all those that lost their lives in accidents with motorists.  They are our fallen.  They deserve to be remembered publicly, if only for a single day.

You may also consider the Ride of Silence our Independence Day.  We ride united to remind motorists of our right to share the road.  We pedal together to exercise our freedom of choice among transportation alternatives.

As cyclists, we oftentimes take our liberty for granted and forget that bicycling can be deadly.  The Ride of Silence reminds us to be ever vigilant in regard to our personal safety and our right to ride.

I had the honor of participating in my first Ride of Silence last year in Arlington Heights.  It was a very moving experience for me.  I felt honored to be a part of it.

We all ride for very personal reasons.  The Ride of Silence should be taken personally by each of us.  Please consider taking part...

Keep riding and be safe!
