Well, if I can’t come up with anything clever on my own, I can always share someone else’s creative genius (and mutter under my breath, I wish I had thought of that)

Life As a Cyclist Could be So Different  This one should be categorized under “today’s laugh”.  Borrowed from a blog called Bicycle Basecamp, this clever video points out that there really is no comparison between bicycling and driving.  Enjoy!

Bicycle-riding ladies and other threats to manly order.  With an inordinate amount of posts about 1890’s women riding bicycles popping up this past week (my own Wheels of Chance review notwithstanding), it was not surprising that this article appeared in my news bundle.

From a blog called Man Boobz featuring the tagline “Misogyny. I Mock It”, I figured I could look past a few expletives to hear what this friend of “bicycle-riding ladies” had to say.  I was glad I did!  He masterfully mocks the “Men’s Rights Movement” and exposes it for the same-old knock against women that has been appearing in ads and cartoons since the Gilded Age.

Let’s not forget what Susan B. Anthony said; “Let me tell you what I think of bicycling. I think it has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world.”

Minneapolis Continues to Build Bike and Walk-ability.  Sorry folks, but the great press for Minneapolis just keeps rolling in.  This article from Rails-To-Trails Conservancy is yet another commentary on the strides the Twin Cities have made in becoming more bicycle friendly.

I won’t mention that Minneapolis was also featured yesterday in an article at The Huffington Post.  Oops, I just did, didn’t I?  We Chicagoans can learn a little from our cousins up north...

Active Transportation Alliance Winter Bike To Work Day, Friday, January 20th.  Stop by at Daley Plaza from 6:30am to 9:00am two weeks from today and celebrate your hardiness with Caribou Coffee and Eli’s Cheesecake.

Bicycling Takes Me Places – The Saris Fifth Grade National Poster Contest.  If you have a fifth grader in your household and he or she loves to draw and ride bikes, Saris, a Wisconsin manufacturer of bike racks and the CycleOps trainer, has a great contest to enter.  Prizes will be awarded in all 50 states, including a trip to the 2013 National Bike Summit in Washington DC for the national winner!

That’s a summary of what was newsworthy yesterday.

Keep riding and be safe!
