Ciminillo as a unit of measure

Ciminillo as a unit of measure
My friends are nothing if not creative. I mean, I never meant to end up as a unit of measure. But then one of my friends (cough, @msirach) bluntly asked for my height and weight. Fine, 4’11 and 95 pounds. Yes. I’m petite. Then through voodoo math of some sort, he converted me into cubic-feet.... Read more »

@girlinthetrunk tests out the Scion tC

@girlinthetrunk tests out the Scion tC
I liked but didn’t love the all-new 2013 Scion tC. With its redesign, the tC takes on a more masculine build with boxy edges and angular lines. With a 2.5-liter, 179-horsepower engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, the tC certainly had some nice get-up-and-go. But, for me, it somehow fell flat. I’m not sure if... Read more »

GirlintheTrunk makes ChicagoNow her temporary home

Today Posterous.com shut down. For those of you who follow me, you know that this housed my (hopefully) funny @girlinthetrunk photo posts with a brief review and some trunked-up commentary. It also includes a look at how many (cough) Ciminillos (a real unit of measure that equals 1.5 cubic-feet) fit in the trunk. So, until... Read more »

VW launches hybrid Jetta

I recently had the chance to attend the launch of the all-new VW Jetta Hybrid in Santa Fe, NM. My driving partner was Dan Gray of MPGomatic. And when he pieced together his video review, I made a cameo appearance. Or at least, @girlinthetrunk did. I’ll be uploading pictures and review soon, but in the... Read more »

GirlintheTrunk meets CrutchGirl :/

GirlintheTrunk meets CrutchGirl :/
So, I managed to break my foot. It’s a lovely spiral fracture with a 50 percent displacement¬†(and, yeah, that’s a link to the X-ray). Since I’m a runner and habitually wear 5-inch heels, surgery seemed to be the best option. Thus, I’m relegated to crutches and a big-ass (notice the compound modifier) cast for the... Read more »

How many Ciminillos fit in a Jaguar XF?

How many Ciminillos fit in a Jaguar XF?
The current guess is about 6 Ciminillos, but that is, of course, if you pour me in. I would, however, like to think that at least 3 of me could fit pretty comfortably. With 17.7 cu-ft of cargo volume, the trunk is actually pretty good. My one complaint: I wish the trunk opening was just... Read more »

Chicago Auto Show: Interview with Hyundai's John Krafcik ...

… From the trunk of the Hyundai Elantra GT. C’mon, ¬†you had to figure @GirlInTheTrunk would make an appearance at some point, right? Today, Hyundai launched 2 new models in the Elantra lineup, the coupe and the GT 5-door. I had the chance to steal a couple minutes with John Krafcik, president and CEO of... Read more »

Hyundai Veloster, Jupiter Lily & @GirlintheTrunk

I recently had the opportunity to spend time with the all-new 2012 Hyundai Veloster. While I can’t tell you what I think of driving the Veloster until Sept. 19 (darn embargo), I can tell you about the trunk space. Keeping up with @GirlintheTrunk, we decided to see how well I fit. And, since we were... Read more »

Photo gallery: 2012 Ford Fiesta

I really, really liked the 2012 Ford Fiesta. From the heated cloth seats to the as-tested price that came in under $20K, this car has some serious potential as a city car. The 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 120 horsepower is just peppy enough for some aggressive city maneuvers, and the 5-speed manual transmission is... Read more »
