2014 Jeep Cherokee lowered liftgate button

Sometimes it's the little things that please me the most on cars. As someone of petite stature, I find my self constantly stretching, jumping and climbing to reach hand-holds and buttons.

When there's a power liftgate on an SUV, I'm elated. Until I discover that the button is on the lid right next to the hand grip, which I have to jump to reach.

So, when I saw the button on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, I did a little happy dance. It's down low next to the load floor. It's easy to reach whether you're short or you have a wiggling child in your arms.

Sure, it's a silly, small thing, but when your arms are full and you just can't stretch to reach a button up high, it's huge.

  • So is it any better than Ford's stick your foot under the bumper liftgate switch?

Not necessarily. But you take what you can get ... And I recently found something even better. Stay tuned for my post on Hyundai's "Smart Trunk."
