This year marks the 25th anniversary of US-production for the Subaru Legacy. So, it's fitting that the big introduction for Subaru at the Chicago Auto Show is the launch of the next-gen Legacy.
The 2015 Legacy will come equipped with 2 Boxer engine options. The 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine delivers 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. The 3.6-liter, 6-cylinder engine delivers 256 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque.
In addition to being completely redesigned, the interior gets a little more comfortable with total passenger volume ringing in at 104.6 cubic-feet (a 1.6 cubic-foot increase).
The most interesting news is the fuel economy story. With the 4-cylinder engine and standard AWD, EPA estimates city/highway to be 26/36 mpg, with a combined fuel economy of 30 mpg. The 6-cylinder engine is estimated to deliver 20/28 mpg.
Using a visual image of a 3D printer to showcase how it all comes together, Subaru's reveal was one of the coolest at the show so far. See what I mean by clicking on the YouTube video below.
