Today's Rant: Twisted seat belt in the Mercedes C250

I kind of hate writing this rant because I loved the Mercedes-Benz C250 Coupe. It was compact and sporty. It was fun and right sized. It was gorgeous and well appointed. It held the curves and moved with the slightest push of the gas pedal. I could continue to gush, but I've got to get to the point.

I was annoyed daily by the twisted seat belt. Somehow, it appears as the the clip on the belt that fits into the buckle was put on backwards. No matter how I twisted and turned the belt, I couldn't get a twist-less line. And I'm just type-A enough that this drove me nuts. I tried pulling the belt all the way out to see if there was a twist at the back of the line. No luck. I tried looking at where it attaches to the floor to see if it got turned inside out. Not so much.

So, all I could do was suck it up. This wouldn't be enough for me not to buy the car, but it would be enough for me to pester the dealer to fix it before I drove off the lot. Especially considering the base price is $38,200.

  • You would think that a company such as Daimler giving out a $38K car to a reviewer would at least check the seatbelt.

Personally, I'm waiting for the review of the CLA.
