Today's Rave: Mitsubishi Outlander Sport glass roof

When I was sitting in the front seat of the 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, I thought the panoramic glass roof was pretty neat. But it wasn't until I sat in the back seat to take a photo that realized just how cool this feature is. You get this ginormous sweeping view that just keeps on going. In fact, my camera wasn't big enough to capture the entire length of the glass roof.

I really wish I had the chance to sit back here while someone else was driving at night through the city of Chicago. Imagine the video.

The downside? If you want this feature, you aren't going to find it in the base Outlander Sport ($19,995). To have the option of purchasing this feature you have to move into the top-of-the-line SE trim, which costs $23,120. The panoramic glass roof is then part of an optional Premium Package ($2,050). So, if you want this feature, at a bare minimum, you'll have to spend $25,170. To get the car I'd want -- adding all-wheel drive, cargo package, parking sensors and leather seats in addition to the Premium Package -- I'd end up spending at least $28,240. Wow, that price went up fast ...
