With the recent spate of coldness that has swept Chicago, I discovered this rant accidentally. It had been a pleasant 60 degrees for most of the test, and then bam! One morning I wake up, and it's 30-something degrees. Brrrr. Thank goodness for the heated seats and steering wheel in the 2012 Kia Sorento.
But as I pulled out of my parking space, I heard this creaky squeaking. I always carry water bottles, so I assumed initially it was one of those. Until the sound began to grate on me like nails down a chalk board. So, I started touching every portable object: from water bottles to my iPass. Nothing stopped the sound. Until I grabbed the edge of the center stack and clasped my hands around the plastic bits. The car itself was making the sound. Not. Good.
It did stop after the heat kicked in and the car warmed up. So, I'm not sure if this is a deal-breaker. But I'm all about going into a relationship with eyes wide open. The base price of $23,150 is awesome, and the fact that you can get one really well stocked for less than $34K, might outweigh a couple minutes of squeaking in cold weather ... hmmmm.
