Living in an urban environment, I rarely get the chance to take some of the cooler cars I drive into the elements for which they were created. Not a lot of drag strips, racetracks or off-road courses in the CHI.
Which is why I live for the yearly jaunt the Midwest Automotive Media Association takes 2 hours north to Road America racetrack in Elkhart Lake, Wisc. In addition to a day on the track driving sweeties like the Jaguar XFR and the Lexus IS-F, we get a second day in the woods surrounding the track going off-road in a course created by Land Rover.
My ride du jour yesterday was the Jeep Wrangler. And boy was it pretty.
On the first go-round, Dave Hall from Consumer Guide was at the wheel.
Here's some video of his turn down my favorite obstacle: The Hill.
BTW -- whatever you do, listen to the Land Rover guy.
