2010 VW Jetta

The autorati in San Francisco are currently evaluating the all-new 2011 VW Jetta.

Gone is the wide-mouthed Audi-like grille. In are the long horizontal lines and clean, simple styling. While the Jetta remains compact, it gains 2.9 inches in length over the previous generation and has a class-leading 38.1 inches of rear legroom.

And floating around the table during the media lunch, I've heard comments ranging from "bold, new aggressive styling" to "conservative" to "two steps backward."

Check out the photo gallery below and let me (and, incidentally, Volkswagen) know what you think of the new styling. Comment away! The good, bad and ugly are welcome.

  • Conservative is an understatement.

It is like a German re-incarnation of the 1993 Corolla.

  • It feels the Jetta was invited to an Audi party but arrived a little too-late-to-be-fashionable. So it just having bit and pieces of what's left over laying around on the table. The rear was a rip off of an Audi A4, which by now we're bored to death to look at, and the front is a nose job from the Golf. Wake up VW...look at Honda, Toyota styling, you might learn a thing or two.
