New Chevrolet Equinox is city friendly

2010 Chevrolet Equinox

This is the first chance I've had to drive the all-new 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, and I have to say that Chevy (Cough, Chevrolet) has done it again. This is just yet another example of a well-executed vehicle produced by the bow-tie.

And, bonus, it's one you can actually drive in the city.

The test vehicle was an up-level FWD 2LT model with a base price of $25,445 and an as-tested price of $29,075. Fuel economy rings in at 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, though I have to admit I only managed to hover around 21 mpg in combined driving, which was kind of a disappointment.

Chicago friendly features I loved:

  • A super deep console to keep your purse, laptop or other large valuables out of site of thieves.
  • The standard rearview camera with guide lines that curve with the turn of your wheel.
  • Standard Bluetooth hookup for your cell phone.
  • Nice large side mirrors that help you see all obstacles, including wily bikers, as you parallel park.
  • An extra little lip at the bottom of the door that covers the door sill and keeps it from getting muddy, slushy, snowy, icky in inclement weather so that the bottom of your trousers stay clean if you bump up against it.

My full review will be coming on The North Star National in a couple weeks, but in the mean time, check out the photos of the test car.
