The Chicago Auto Show has arrived ... almost

For me, it has already begun. The out-of-town media have managed to stumble in during the snow storm, and several key executives from the various and sundry automakers have braved the blizzard as well. Tonight, I had a very pleasant dinner with General Motors and met Mark Reuss, the new, new president of GM North America.

Other than spilling the beans on future product from Pontiac in the year 2020 (just kidding), he seems to be a great car guy with a keen mind and, dare I say, a dash of Bob Lutz. I see good things to come under his leadership. ...

Tomorrow, however, the real fun begins. It's like Christmas all over again.

Press conferences, crazy access to influential people within the auto industry and virtually unlimited access to all the cars on the showroom floor. It's the media days at the Chicago Auto Show.

I will probably walk more than 5 miles (in high heels nonetheless) trolling the floor and running from press conference to press conference, and I will love every minute of it.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for photo galleries and news items from Chevrolet, Toyota, Kia, Honda, Ford and Suzuki. My money is on Kia for the biggest news and best press conference of the day.
