2013 Nissan Juke NISMO AWD - Frog Hopping the Gridiron - Review

Call it "Godzilla...extra,extra-light." New-for-2013 is Nissan's sportiest-for-the-masses personal crossover-ute. The Juke NISMO. Good for the Gridiron.

Starting at $22,900 for the front-drive 6-speed manual version. The fully optioned CVT all-wheel drive model tops out at $27,200, which, coincidentally is just undercuts the base price of the Mini Cooper Countryman S All4.
You wouldn’t normally describe the amphibian Rana temporaria, aka the “Frog”, as particularly “Cute.” Unless you happen to be a 21-year-old to 30 something urban gal in search of a squatting, bug-eyed sub-compact crossover-utility vehicle. For the boys, whose interest in amphibians leans to more menacing creatures, for 2013 Nissan introduces a [mild] factory tuner... Read more »

2013 Chevrolet Spark - Your Tortilla Chips are in My Mole - Review

"Your tortilla chips are in my zesty mole!" The Jalapeno sheen of the 2013 Chevrolet Spark sure is spicy. It's the General's newest attempt at a five-door city car coming from its South Korea arm (formerly Daewoo).
Blow all the sissy whistles you want at our Jalapeno (bright metallic pastel green) 2013 Chevrolet Spark micro-sportback car. Because (A) it don’t show the dirt (B) it shimmers at night (C) it goes pretty good with fresh tortilla chips. It’s not that a recent “Drive…He Said’s”extended play-date with this city hatchback did much to... Read more »

2013 BMW X1 - Choice of Colloquialism - Review

Bayerische Motoren Werke calls its 2013 BMW X1 a "Sport Activity" vehicle. Our Alpine White tester optioned with M-Sport Line package, 18" M-wheels, dual panoramic moonroof, leather seating and trim, bi-xenon lighting, HDD Navigation with I-Drive controller and superb Harman Kardon audio arrived at our door for $44,000.
“Drive…He Said”has to hand it to BMW. Now they have gone ahead and revived the first 5-door version of the 3-series sedan for the States since 1999′s E36 318 ti. This, despite the floundering U.S. sales of that 5-door distortion of F10 5-series, the Gran Turismo. Those determined Bavarians regard their 2013 BMW X1 28... Read more »

Will the "Real GT" step forward. (top to bottom) the five-door 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT and the four-door 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer GT.
“Touring Car” = an automobile suitable for distance driving, typically in two-door sedan configuration. Back seat included. Touring Car + a dash of refinement + a pinch of occupant comfort = “Grand Touring Car” So “Drive…He Said” is wondering “How in the hey” do two front-drive small family haulers, the 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT hatchback... The 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek. BKA Impreza Sport 5-door wagon on stilts. Priced starting just under $25,000. Our loaded Limited version with leather, moonroof and navigation barely crossed the $27,000 line.
As siblings go there are clear advantages to being taller. It’s about being mom’s favorite when it comes time to reach the top shelf of the cupboard. And the satisfaction of denying the others at the net in a game of one-on-one. Reason enough for the 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek compact crossover. Even if it... Read more »
