If you are thinking about a divorce, are in the middle of a divorce or know a woman getting a divorce, sign up for the upcoming Divorce University, Sunday, November 4, 2012.
This is a semi-annual event where you will hear judges, lawyers and other divorce related professionals give you information about the process of divorce. Other speakers include women who have survived the process and are there to tell you that you WILL survive!
The speaker that I am most interested this time to hear is Judge Grace G. Dickler, Presiding Judge of the Domestic Relations Division for the Circuit Court of Cook County. She replaces Judge Moshe Jacobius [the presiding judge in my current litigation] who was promoted to Presiding Judge of the Chancery Division.
This event, workshops and support groups are sponsored by The Lilac Tree, a non-profit organization, based in Evanston and devoted exclusively to helping women going through a divorce.
I asked Lorraine Murphy, executive director, what most folks may not realize about the event and The Lilac Tree. She replied that many do not realize that scholarships are available for women who may not be able to afford to attend. She suggests that they call and ask for this information. Also, she wanted me to know that the privacy of the women who attend is protected.
Continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon refreshments are included in the fee [$130 in advance, $150 at the door]. The location of the event is the Hilton Garden Inn, 1818 Maple Avenue, Evanston. Free parking is available next door.
More details and all the speaker names can be found on the website.
