Want To Be A Fall 2014 Intern / Contributor?

As in the past, I'm looking for folks who might want to intern or contribute for District299 this fall. Maybe you're a journalist in training of some kind -- or a teacher in training.  Truth is, you can be a student, parent, teacher, or outside observer.  It doesn't really matter.  And you don't have to agree with me (or anyone else) about whether things are going well or poorly in CPS these days. All it takes is a reliable interest in what's going on in CPS, some spare time, and some decent writing skills.  Some of the things that folks have done in the past include rounding up the big news stories of the day, going to and reporting from meetings and events, or writing about particular schools or issues. I can't pay you, unfortunately, but I can give you exposure and help you understand how blogging (and CPS) work.  Give it a thought. Pass it on to friends or email networks if you think you might know some folks who are interested.  I'm reachable at district299@gmail.com. Thanks!

  • I live in Guam, can I apply?

  • In reply to district299reader:

No, you don't have to have any experience working or attending CPS. Heck, you don't even need to live in Chicago to blog about Chicago schools.

  • Aspiring journalists beware. Association with a blog such as this could ruin your prospects at a future career with a legitimate news source.

  • This has to be a belated April Fools joke. Let’s get this straight. You’re going to have someone do all of your Chicago legwork for free and in return you will elucidate them on the ins and outs of CPS!?! After a few weeks of actual experience the intern will understand CPS better than you. I think your quote “It really doesn’t matter” sums up your attitude to a tee.
