State's 7.4 Pct K-12 Cut Tops Nation

State's 7.4 Pct K-12 Cut Tops Nation
It's no surprise that education funding has been cut in many states like Illinois (though it's started to come back in some places already).  But I didn't know that Illinois cut education the most of any state in the nation -- 7.4 percent.  That's according to a Wall Street Journal story about new Census statistics this week (Public Spending Per Student Drops).  No wonder everyone's been in such a bad mood.

  • Both the Isbe superintendent and Board chair have noted our state's cuts to k-12 education. But the IL General Assembly is totally focused on the pension issue, but that will not solve all of the problems our state has.
