CTU Lawsuits / CPS Response

CTU Lawsuits / CPS Response

This WTTW Chicago Tonight segment (click below) outlines the basics of the CTU-funded parent lawsuits against the closings (ADA and Illinois civil rights), presented by Tom Geoghegan (who I think is the labor lawyer who wrote the labor history called Side Are You On?). There's not enough time to make plans and implement them, and the closings impact African-American children disproportionately. There's a response from CPS about the need to proceed (it doesn't address the specifics of the CTU lawsuits). Up next?  Some comments/reactions from the Mayor, I'm guessing.  Then the vote next week.

  • The status quo of referring to anything that is pro-child/anti-deform is now the status quo. They don't have a leg to stand on.

Emanuel / BBB / Carroll should just release the following press release:

"Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo

Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo

Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo

Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo

Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo

Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo

Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo

Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo Status Quo"

  • The "reform" they have been touting is now shy of 20 years... when does this become the "status quo"?
