Rahm And Cawley Heading To SF

On Tuesday and Wednesday a handful of Chicago folks -- Tim Cawley and Rahm Emanuel among them -- will be at a hotel near San Francisco at the annual NewSchools Venture Fund education summit.  Click here for a preview of this year's agenda that I did last week on the other blog.  I'm alternately appalled and intrigued at the event, which is full of reformers and somewhat devoid of school, district, and agency types.  Noble Street, AUSL, University of Chicago folks will probably be there.  This year they're trying -- belatedly -- to talk about poverty and reform.  Last year, they had a big panel about the lessons that have been learned from reform failures.  Take a look and tell us what you think, and if you see me (bearded, glasses) walking around feel free to come up and say hello.  It's always fun to meet folks in real life.  I'll be tweeting #nsfvsummit and Instagramming away, talking to people about my planned next book (on the evolution of school reform), then visiting one of these socioeconomically diverse charter schools that are popping up around the country the day after.  OK, so this has turned into just a post about my travel plans and work.  Sorry about that.
