Casals isn't the only school that has staunch defenders, and the new Chicago Journal includes a look at the debate over the proposed phase-out of the historic school:

This will lead to the monthly Board of Education meeting on December 14th. If you would like to speak at the meeting and advocate for public schools, please arrive by 6:00 AM.   • Has anyone heard of Terrance Little - he just became the new Principal for CICS - Larry Hawkins?

  • According to Google he was most recently principal at Wendell Phillips (post turnaround)

  • No one is talking about the part of the transition plan for Crane that states that the Crane's Achievement Academy students are going to be sent to Clemente. Clemente was already required to take Achievement Academy kids from Senn this year when the district decided to close Senn's AA. And now they will be required to take the AA kids from Crane too?
