  • New Chicago Schools CEO Jean-Claude Brizard contends his new $250,000 base salary doesn't really constitute a raise. Although Mr. Brizard's base salary is $20,000 more than his predecessor CEO Ron Huberman, Brizard said "I'm not getting a raise"! Mr. Brizard says he prefers turnarounding schools. Mr. Brizard says he is a supporter of charter schools. Mr. Brizard says that it is up to the new school board to decide whether to ask the teacher's union to open up the contract to forego the negotiated 4% raises. The new school board members are expected to decide if the cash-strapped Chicago Public School system can afford a negotiated 4% teacher raise worth $80 million. Mr. Brizard says that he is not opposed to having a performance evaluation tied to conditions he wants to impose on teachers and principals! CPS officials want teachers to give up their annual 4% raise! The annual teacher raise weren't included in the schools budgets sent to principals last friday!
