Safety: Ten Security Cameras Per School

image from chicagoist.comThere are roughly ten security cameras for every school in Chicago, according to this Chicago Tribune story about allegations of unsupervised use of security cameras in Chicago (Chicago emergency officials defend city's extensive camera network).  Mayor Daley has already rejected the ACLUS's call for limits on their use, but I'm curious:  Have you noticed cameras near your school, where they are placed, if anyone in the building has access to the feed, and if they are an effective deterrent or aide in catching offenders?
