"Principal's Pick" Banned Again - No One Cares

For all the attention and concern generated by last week's announced plan for magnet and SE schools this year, the decision to ban principal picks for a second year has generated relatively little attention compared to last year, when it was first prohibited, and previous years when it was a chronic complaint about the application and admissions process.  Does that mean that it's not as important as previously thought, or that people are generally fine with leaving principals out of the process?  Or is the provision something that's a major concern and I'm just not tracking the debate?  Also -- do you think that the Board will endorse the changes later this month or will there be late changes like there were last year (when the gut check provision was added).
