Don't forget to RSVP for next week's Chico education event.  The Chico campaign is really milking the whole CPS connection, sending out invites on CPS email (see below) and listing a buncha event sponsors from the education world (or at least the 1990s version of it):  Dr. Joyce Kemer Adriane Rotfeld Joel Carlins Mark Angelini Greg Richmond Johnetta JamesMichael Hernandez Dr. Tariq Butt Manuel Medina Cozette Buckney Ana Chico John Rico Sam Meisels Diane Zendejas Michael Abello Salim Ucan Neal Siegellak Patricia Adduci Carlos Azcoitia Eva Nickolich Ron Manderschied Dion Smith Carolyn Morrison Cynthia Barron Craig & Laura Solomon Bruce & Marianne Marchiafava Jim & Paula Adduci Michael Milkie.

Here's the email that was sent out:

I'd like to invite you to a fundraiser Gery Chico is having that is geared towards educators and people in the field. The event will be taking place downtown on Tuesday November 16th. I have attached the invitation which includes more details. We would really appreciate your support and look forward to seeing you there. Please feel free to invite others to attend and support Gery for Mayor of Chicago. If you have any questions you can email me or call (847) 777-9939. Thank you and have a great day.

Kelli Garcia, J.D.

  • A rally for the guy who as head of the Park District was okay with the Latin School taking public land in Lincoln Park to build their "might-as-well-be-private" soccer field? Uh. No thanks. (Ha. Not that I was invited.)

  • 773 is the area code. That is a Chicago area code

  • Has anyone noticed that the leaders of Noble Street Charter are supporting Mr. Chico and the key leader of UNO is supporting Rahm Emanuel. Will another charter operator's leadership support Senator Meeks? It appears the charter school movement is split on who would be the best Mayor for charter schools.

  • Milkie's coming to Sabin next week. His "share" of our students has shot up like 200% in the last six years. Why? When your choices are Clemente, Wells, Prosser, lakeview...well

As to the SE's worse than getting into ivy league.

I don't blame parents signing with Noble. I'm sure it's a decent education. But Mr. M won't be selling his school during my class time anymore.
