My hyper-accomplished former classmate Jacob Weisberg does an excellent
with a new Slate article illuminating the political impact of Obama's
cool, somewhat detached relationships
with people and institutions( including his alma maters, Chicago
politics, and even his mother).
Educators and journalists who hope to
understand the Obama approach (demeanor?) would do well to read it --
as well as my 2008 Slate article about Obama's elusive support for local control in Chicago schools.
Already, Obama is said to be pivoting away from health care reform towards easier, smaller, more middle class initiatives.
