  • I would recommend that blog readers take note of a report that appeared on CBS 2 news last night. It informed viewers that the CPS Inspector General has been reviewing numerous CPS credit card expenditures by Mr. Scott. The problems and questions appear to go beyond the $3,000 spent in relation to the Copenhagen trip for the 2016 Olympic bid committee meeting.

The Mayor was quoted in the Tribune today as saying that "there's nothing wrong" with Mr. Scott using a CPS credit card for expenses related to that 2016 trip. I guess I have to say I do not agree with the Mayor, there was something wrong with that. Moreover the Mayor is sending out the wrong message in relation to the use of expense accounts by public officals appointed by him. This is especially the case given the fact that the Mayor has ordered city and CPS non-union employees to take payless days because of a budget shortfall.

  • Ya know, . . . after watching that video of the press question, I'm on Daley's side. Honestly that question was pretty ridiculous and irrelevant. Yes Daley has his political bruises but that reporters comment was once again a great example of the lack of respect and sophistication from our media. A person has died and these are the only silly questions that our media can put a spotlight on. I'm sick of the finger pointing.

  • you may be interested to know that duncan is going to speak at scott's funeral / memorial service today -- i'm often critical of duncan but i think he's doing the right thing coming back for this. and for not putting it on his public media schedule.
