Education secretary Arne Duncan is also providing applications for states to get money from a special fund to stabilize state and local budgets.
The camp out, tentatively called "Camp Carpenter", will be held to
demand that the Chicago Board of Education reverse its recent decisions
to "phase out" Carpenter and allow the Carpenter building to be taken
over by an entity called "Ogden High School".
January "hooking up" issue described casual sexual encounters among
students. Officials said the paper recklessly exposed the identities of
the students by using their first names and graduation year and failed
to achieve balance by omitting those opposed to hooking up.
