Part Two of our series on truancy in Rockford, Illinois, schools

Rockford kids to go to school.

The program doesnt do that immediately only
10,000 more children, mostly 4-year-olds, will get state-subsidized
preschool this fall, with no funding guarantees beyond the upcoming
school year.

Its relatively rare that Democratic Gov. Rod
Blagojevich makes an appearance in the Northwest or West suburbs, but
he picked Rolling Meadows as the place to sign his universal preschool
measure into law Tuesday.
