The Month In Review -- Readers' Version

April_2007On Friday, I'm going to gather some of Chicago's
education reporters for another "month in review" audio roundtable, but you get the chance to weigh in before they do:

  • What do you think was the most significant education story of the month?
  • Who were the biggest winners and losers of the month (in education)?
  • What was the most over- and under-reported story of the month?
  • What do you think the big education stories for next month are going to be?

Feel free to weigh in on any or all of the above, and then tune in Friday afternoon to see how your assessment matches up with what the journos have to say.

  • I suspect that one of the reasons why many people have little interest in special ed and its issues is that they don't think of blind students or students in wheel chairs or other physical or mental handicaps, they think of the BD or LD students and because few understand the mental health issues involved and because of a lingering stigma on mental illness, there's little compassion for those children as compared to the blind or deaf.
