The Mexican Connection

If you don't want to read all about desegregation and the Supreme Court, check out this great Reader article by Linda Lutton and Catrin Einhorn, two superb reportistas (I made up that word).

"Almost all the canned pumpkin in the U.S. comes from downstate Morton," according to the story (Hecho en Illinois).  "Most of the people who pack it come from the tiny Mexican town of La Soledad."

Some of you may recall Lutton's piece from this summer (Desde, Mexico to Waukegan, IL) about the places and schools where many immigrant kids come from in Mexico.
