The Ayers Era

There aren't a lot of folks who do education in Chicago who haven't run into or been influenced by John or Bill Ayers.  Formerly at LQE and now at NACSA, John Ayers is the archetypal connector -- he knows everyone and all the angles.  Former militant activist and now UIC prof Bill Ayers has influenced generations of teachers and reformers.  Some people love 'em (one or the other, or sometimes even both).  Some don't.  What not everyone knows is that their dad, who recently passed, was a Chicago icon of sorts.  Here's the obit from the Tribune:  Utility executive led civic, racial initiatives. Check it out.
