someone or know someone who knows someone who could make our

department complete."

Two schools, North Lawndale College Prep and the Rudy Lozano

Leadership Academy have job openings:

North Lawndale College Prep is losing a

gifted biologist/ecologist to a PhD program, and we will be hiring. So

far, we have received a whopping ZERO applications. It's hard to find

high school level science teachers, which is why I'm hoping you know

someone or know someone who knows someone who could make our

department complete.

Qualifications:

  • Certified in science (may be flexible...can't remember what

current law requires. Needs to be "Highly Qualified".)

  • We would take an experienced biologist, but really need a chemist.
  • Not a "weird" science person--you know what I mean. We

need a science person who is able to connect with our student

population (check out our website if you're not familiar www.nlcphs.org)

  • Bilingual helpful, but not required

The pay is competitve. The culture is one

that promotes peace, student leadership, heavy community

involvement and partnership, parent partnership, college readiness,

rigor, and high expectations with great teacher support. Some of the

challenges are that it takes A LOT of time to do all of the

aforementioned, so we work long hours. The integrated science approach

is not common and has some kinks. We don't have some of the amenities

and resources that newer and larger schools have.
