Sandoval Proposes Charter Changes

Sandoval
The Center on Education Reform says that a bill has been introduced to change the charter school law in Illinois -- but not raise the 60-school cap:  "Recently introduced bill SB2979 would remove geographical
restrictions on where charter schools may operate but leave the charter school
cap at 60 statewide."

I'm not so sure what it does -- or whether it's a good idea. According to the bill summary, it was introduced 1/20 and "Removes the provision prohibiting more than 30
charter schools from operating in Chicago, more than 15 charter schools
from operating in DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, and Will Counties and
that portion of Cook County outside Chicago, and more than 15 charter
schools from operating in the remainder of the State. Effective
immediately."  Full text
