Parent Involvement Study Coming Tuesday -- CANCELED

PURE's big parent involvement study is being released on Tuesday, according to the release below.

"In the largest study ever done of parent involvement in Chicago schools, PURE compares parent involvement across 92 CPS schools, reveals significant correlation between student achievement and key parent involvement activities, sheds new light on involvement of high school parents, and finds areas where improved practices could most effectively involve parents and enhance student learning.

UPDATE From PURE:  "Hi Folks- PURE has decided to cancel our press
conference on the release of our parent survey results due to a
conflict with a scheduled CPS press conference on the school budget."

This study was funded a generous grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates
Foundation.

Who: Parents United for Responsible Education, or PURE, is a parent-run
organization founded in 1987 and dedicated to improving public schools
for all our children. Our main strategy is to support active, informed,
meaningful parent participation in the public schools. We are a resource
for parents for information, support, training, and advocacy which helps
them become more involved in their childrens education. While there are
many groups working on improving schools, PURE has a special role in
focusing on issues from the parents' point of view. PURE's membership
and constituency are multiracial, multi-cultural and economically diverse.
