NEA Makes Up Smaller Percentage of Labor in IL Than In Other States

According to this post from the Education Intelligence Agency, NEA members make up larger and larger portions of union membership as a whole. "In fact, NEA is the nation's largest union of any kind, and with local government being one the last growing sectors of union membership, it is likely to gain a larger and larger share of organized labor as a whole."  The national average is 15.6 percent.  But in Illinois, 116, 535 IEA teachers make up just 12.8 percent of the 908,000 in total union membership.
