The district's composite score—which includes reading, math, and
science—increased 1.3 percentage points from the year before, with 65.4
percent of all students meeting or exceeding state requirements.
This was the first year that
students still in the process of learning English took the regular
state achievement exams. CPS officials had warned that the district's
scores could fall.

Every ISAT reading and math test taken in the state -- close to 1
million exams -- had to be rescored after state officials noticed huge
fluctuations in this year's results, most of them downward.
