From CPS: "The conference runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9 at Kenwood High School, 5015 S. Blackstone Ave. Among the featured speakers at Sundays gala are nationally known author and activist Kevin Powell, Ald. Manny Flores (1st) and Jesse Ruiz, chair of the Illinois State Board of Education. Chicago Board of Education President Rufus Williams will be the keynote speaker at Mondays conference.
The conference will feature workshops for both students and adults school staff, parents or volunteers.
"The Male Initiative Project began at Kenwood High School and has since spread to the following high schools and middle schools: AASTA, Bogan, Chicago Academy, Chicago Military, Michelle Clark, Clemente, Dunbar, Harlan, Hubbard, Hyde Park, Infinity, Julian, Kelly, Kennedy, Little Village Lawndale, North Lawndale, Phillips, Phoenix, Robeson, Roosevelt, Schurz, Uplift, Urban Prep and Wells."
