I got a call from one of the LA Times' finest, education reporter Joel Rubin, earlier this week. He was in town meeting with people and looking around. In anticipation of a mayoral takeover in LA, the paper is going to be doing a bunch of pieces about what Chicago and NYC's experiences with mayoralization have been. I'm looking forward to seeing what things look like from afar, and I'm hoping - the LAT can do really good work -- that it'll be instructive and interesting rather than just more of the same old same old.
