One of those calls for establishing a "Governor's School for Teaching" in Philadelphia which would recruit top high school students for a summer program, that would presumably lead them to go to college as ed. majors? I don't know. The story (Two Phila. lawmakers propose incentives to encourage teachers.) doesn't say. The other program they want to bring to Philly is "Call Me Mister." This is based at Clemson University and encourages more male minority students to become certified elementary school teachers.
Chicago has "Real Men Read," but is there a minority male recruitment program? Does it need one?
