Resources for Indispensable Schools and Educators (RISE)
Mission: To retain effective teachers in public schools serving low-income communities.
Organization Description: RISE helps schools with high-expectations in
low-income communities attract and retain experienced, effective
teachers. By providing a job-seeking portal for experienced, effective
teachers that rates public schools in low-income communities on the
basis of student achievement and workplace sustainability, RISE
provides an incentive for schools to be both high achieving and highly
sustainableincreasing effective teacher retention and improving
student learning. RISE is an award-winning not-for-profit organization
serving 60 Partner Schools and over 1,000 teachers between the San
Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and Chicago.
Job Description: The Executive Director will administer and oversee the
Chicago program. Primary responsibilities include: * Conducting
outreach to potential Partner Schools, maintaining relationships with
existing Partners including email/phone contact and school visits. *
Working with Partner School liaisons, conducting annual school
diligence process to assess working conditions (with a focus on teacher
sustainability). * Setting Partner School expectations, distributing
contracts, collecting membership fees. * Representing RISE at public
events, conferences, job fairs, etc. * Developing market-specific
collateral, work with national office to disseminate to local sources
and partner organizations. * Assisting national staff in working with
local foundation and corporate donors: relationship building with
existing supporters, identifying new targets, cultivation assistance,
etc. * Developing and managing regional program budget in cooperation
with RISE COO. * Participating in quarterly reflection/planning
activities to asses and improve impact. * Assisting national staff in
hiring and developing support personnel.
Qualifications: The ideal
candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications:
* Strong understanding of and passion for the RISE mission. *
Significant experience in team building in a K-12 school. * Deep
knowledge of and experience with CPS (charter and district). *
Exceptional communication skills and comfort with public speaking. *
Significant K-12 education experience with proven success. * Desire to
play a leadership role in an entrepreneurial environment at a growth
stage organization. Ability to multi-task and wear multiple hats when
needed. * Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, QuickBooks, and
Compensation: Competitive compensation package includes base salary, performance based bonus and benefits.
