These figures do much to debunk the notion that the Illinois requirements re AYP are more stringent than those in other places, as well as the idea that NCLB's AYP rating system "guarantees" that most schools fail. They also show that the percentages of schools not making AYP aren't skyrocketing. Nationally, only about a quarter of schools aren't making AYP, according to recent reports.
