The National Alliance for Public Charter Schools (the umbrella organization whose local affiliate is INCS is today holding a Virtual Back to School Day that includes a session on "what's up with charters?" (my title, not theirs) that I and some other bloggers were asked to participate in.
Check it out and write in if I got anything wildly or mildly wrong. I mentioned that the only folks I know who are trying to foster charter-district collaboration are from The Alliance (the BPI thing), and that until charters are about more than choice -- that is, until they help more than a handful of kids and provide workable models for regular schools -- they'll remain an interesting but marginal approach to the bread and butter work of districts like CPS. But maybe I'm wrong about all that.
